Building Hope, One Step at a Time
Our Story
Anita's House of Hope, LLC (A.H.O.H.), founded on April 2022, in Greensboro, North Carolina, is a Clean-Living House, Family Care Home, Independent Living Facility, Group Home, and a Transitional Housing Facility. A.H.O.H. provides a safe and supportive environment for individuals requiring assistance, helping them transition to stable and independent living. Our homes are specifically designed and equipped with the needed accommodation facilities / gadgets to give comfort and security to all our residents irrespective of their religious affiliations, their race, and health condition.
Anita's House of Hope (A.H.O.H.) was founded by Kareen Abdul Gary, a native of Newark, NJ, who has faced the harsh realities of life firsthand. Growing up, Kareen lost both of his parents at a young age, leaving him to navigate the challenges of poverty and homelessness alone. His experiences shaped his deep understanding of struggle and resilience. Driven by a desire to give back to his community and honor his late mother, Ms. Anita Pope, Kareen named the organization after her, reflecting her spirit of care and compassion. As a licensed North Carolina Peer Support Specialist and a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) in North Carolina, Kareen brings his gifts, skills, and personal journey to A.H.O.H., aiming to provide a supportive environment for individuals in transition. Through this organization, he seeks to empower others to overcome their hardships and build a better future!

Peer Support Services At A.H.O.H., we believe in the power of lived experience to spark transformation. That’s why we offer Peer Support Services led by certified Peer Support Specialists who have personally walked the path of recovery, reentry, and resilience. Our peer mentors provide one-on-one and group support that is rooted in empathy, respect, and shared understanding. They help residents build confidence, create action plans, overcome emotional barriers, and stay motivated as they work toward long-term stability.
Our Peer Support Services are not clinical therapy, but rather a powerful supplement to our program that fosters connection, accountability, and healing in a way only someone with similar life experience can offer. Whether a resident is navigating addiction recovery, mental health challenges, or simply looking to rebuild their life after hardship — they don’t have to do it alone.
